Editor-ready first cut. Review cuts and audio before publishing; occasional artifacts may need a small adjustment. Requires Claude Code or Codex. Final Cut Pro is optional for XML integration.

Before you install

Questions, answered plainly.

01Is this another video editor?

No. Cutwright is a skill pack and working method for Claude Code and Codex. It operates on local media and source-linked Final Cut XML, then uses Remotion for approved graphics.

02Why are there four skills?

Two do the visible work: cutting and motion graphics. One coordinates the end-to-end edit, and one carries the Remotion implementation rules. They install as one plugin.

03Does my footage leave my Mac?

The bundled cutting scripts run locally with FFmpeg and local Whisper tooling. Your Codex and model configuration may have separate data handling, so review those settings for your workspace.

04Does it overwrite my Final Cut project?

Not by default. The workflow creates a new XML or package, preserves the authored story order and trims, and refuses existing output collisions unless you explicitly approve replacement.

05Is the result ready to publish?

Treat it as an editor-ready first cut, not a guaranteed final master. Always review the cuts and audio before publishing; an occasional artifact may need a small adjustment in Final Cut.
